兜 | Kabuto : Japanese for (n) helmet from from traditional Japanese Samurai Armour circa 16th Century.

A partner garment to Tekkō, this hat is designed with reverse stocking stitch to provide a monolithic dimension to the knitted fabric whilst stocking stitch stripes and vertical expressed seam edge provide detail. Short-row shaping at the nape ensures a stylish slouch and fit to the head.

Notes
The written pattern provides detailed instructions, including a photographic tutorial for the Seamless Expressed Edge Pattern, along with many photos and schematics. The hat is seamless but worked back and forth on circular needles to create the original expressed edge along the seam line.
